For Immediate Release:
IT’S A WATERFRONT LIFECelebrate the Holiday Season on the Baltimore Waterfront
(Baltimore) – It’s the most wonderful time of year on the Baltimore waterfront with merriment, fun-filled family festivities and bountiful good cheer! Whether shopping for the perfect gifts, sipping on a hot cocoa, or lining up to sit on Santa’s lap, the holiday season will be in full swing with the launch of The Waterfront Partnership’s It’s a Waterfront Life! The Waterfront Partnership and its members will host a variety of holiday activities and special events for revelers of all ages from Nov. 18 through the end of December.
“There are always tons of reasons to come down to the waterfront but this holiday season there’s even more to enjoy,” said Laurie Schwartz, executive director of the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore. “It’s a wonderful life on the waterfront with discounted parking, dining specials, light shows, carolers and much, much more! Just like Santa, we have a few surprises in our bag.”
It’s a Waterfront Life begins on Friday, Nov. 18 with screenings of Polar Express 4-D, hot cocoa and cookies at the National Aquarium and will continue through the holiday season ending with a countdown to the new year at the Maryland Science Center’s annual Midnight Noon.
One of the many highlights will be Santa’s Arrival & Holiday Lantern Parade, beginning at West Shore Park and traveling along the Inner Harbor’s Promenade to Santa’s Place at the corner of Light and Pratt, on Nov. 19. Festive lanterns, cascading ribbon trees, towering umbrellas, bands, illuminated stilt walkers and costumer characters will come together in a finale with live singing choirs to greet Santa’s Arrival. Families are invited to make their own lanterns and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon at West Shore Park before the parade begins. Following the Lantern Parade, the much-anticipated Power Plant Holiday Light Show Spectacular will debut at 7 p.m. This unforgettable display of lights, lasers, music and more will run nightly until Saturday, Dec. 31 occurring at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Families will be able to celebrate the season with discounts at the Maryland Science Center for Dollar Days and National Aquarium for Fridays After Five throughout December (select dates apply) and with Power Plant’s “Rock the Dock” Family Holiday Bash on Dec. 10 where they can enjoy festive live music, holiday-themed arts and crafts, games, food and drink, great giveaways and even train rides along the promenade.
Those looking for the perfect gifts for their loved ones can enjoy strolling through the many stores of Harbor East. Additionally, several local parking garages around the Harbor will offer discounted parking throughout the season.
“There’s truly something for everyone this winter on the waterfront,” Schwartz said.
