BOWIE, Md - The Bowie Baysox announce today that Louie's Holiday Hope Project returns to brighten the holiday season for local families in need this year. The program began in 2007 and touched 20 families with 60 children last year. This year, the team is proud to partner with Prince George's County Fire/EMS department, the Bowie Police Department and Bowie Youth & Family Services to help as many families as possible.
Bowie Youth & Family Services Director Nancy Branch is proud to partner with the Baysox on this project. “Youth & Family Services is honored to partner with the Bowie Baysox in supporting their efforts in making this holiday season a great one for many families that may not otherwise be so fortunate,” Branch said. “Louie’s Holiday Hope is a great venue for bringing out the giving spirit of this community. The generosity of the Bowie Community and the hard work of the Baysox each year make this event shine.”
“Louie’s Holiday Hope Project has brightened the lives of many families and children in the area,” said Baysox Marketing Director Brandan Kaiser. “Our partners are great to work with and are a pivotal reason for the program’s success. Louie hopes we can help even more families in need this year experience the joy of the holidays.”
To ensure that the program reaches as many families as possible, the Baysox welcome help from their fans. Fans can nominate families that need assistance by e-mailing the Baysox lovable mascot Louie at info@baysox.com. Submissions should include the family's name, situation and a daytime phone number. The team will not be able to help everyone that is nominated, but will consider multiple options to help several families. A Baysox staff member may contact the submitter for additional details or clarification, but all submissions remain confidential. Entries must be received by Friday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m.
If fans would like to make a monetary donation to the project, they can participate in a raffle onwww.baysox.com. For each $10 donation fans make through the raffle, they earn a chance to win a free skybox rental valued at $475 or a personalized Baysox jersey valued at $150. Raffle submissions must be received by Friday Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. If fans would like to donate toys or warm clothes to the program, they can drop them off at Prince George's Stadium during normal business hours.
The Baysox encourage other local groups and organizations to participate in Louie's Holiday Hope Project. Local organizations that would like to make a contribution to the program can e-mail Louie at info@baysox.com or call the front office at (301) 805-6000.
