Free Summer Reading Programs

Here are a few of my favorite Free Reading Programs!

Barnes & Noble: Summer Reading Program! *They are bringing back the program for 2012 however they have not released the full details yet. I will update you when they do.

Half Price Books: Feed Your Brain kicks off June 3rd.  Read 600 minutes or more and turn in your completed June form by July 3rd and July form by August 5th to get a $5 Back to School Bucks reading reward.

Chuck E Cheese: Reading Rewards. Your child can earn 10 free tokens every time they read everyday for 2 full weeks. Print your Reading Rewards Calendar then bring it with you to Chuck E Cheese for redemption.

Scholastic Summer Challenge Kids create an online account and keep track of their reading minutes to earn prizes. As they complete weekly reading challenges on the site, they can spin the Prize Wheel to win digital prizes like book & audio chapters and virtual badges. There are also sweepstakes that kids can enter after logging minutes.

iVillage PBS KIDS Summer Reading Community Challenge launches June 18. You'll get daily emails with literacy-building tips and activities from experts at PBS KIDS and Scholastic. You'll also get book suggestions and discounts, free downloads of PBS KIDS shows and a daily chance to win $1,000 and other great prizes.

Sylvan Book Adventure: offers a free reading incentive program where kids read books, take a comprehension quiz about how much they remember and earn points based on how well they did on the quiz. They can then redeem those points for prizes.

Pottery Barn Kids May 17- August 22

Children receive a prize after completing the recommended reading list featuring award-winning titles. Visit your local store starting May 17th to participate. You'll get a bookmark to take home with you listing all the required reading titles. Once you've got those checked off, return to your local Pottery Barn Kids and they'll have a basket of books that your child can choose from.

HEB has a Summer Reading Club each year.  When your child has read 10 books, you complete the form (before 10/31/12) and mail it in to HEB for a prize pack.  They ask for your child's t-shirt size, so the prize pack must include a shirt (my kids did this a few years ago and did get a shirts, along with some stickers and other stuff).
